Sur internet, nous sommes passé d’un mode de fonctionnement binaire diffusion-reception à un mode d’échanges interindividuels. Cela implique aussi bien d’investir les dispositifs d’échange existants (wiki, blogoshère) que d’en inventer de nouveaux. Nous pouvons constater la démultiplication de ces plateformes qui, comme RadioWne, NoMusic, LePlacard ou Incident.net se différencient par leur échelle ; leur déploiement ; le mode auto-organisationnel de leur fonctionnement ; leur positionnement en tant qu’alternatives aux modèles existants (musées / institutions / médias) et par la discretion de leurs actions.

Ces voies alternatives, dans leurs refus des archétypes médiatiques prééxistants, combinent inventions techniques et nouvelles appréhensions du lien social. Leur mise en place et leur finalité transcendent les institutions par leur approche multidisciplinaire, brouillent les pistes identitaires, redéfinissent des réseaux partiels, servent de grilles de lectures dans une société de la sur-information.

Leurs positionnements tant politique qu’économique, et leurs architectures ouvertes et participatives font cohabiter ces deux termes antinomiques que sont l’intelligence et le collectif.

2006 - Le Clavier
On oublie souvent de voir les objets qui nous entourent. Le clavier est à la fois un objet et une interface qui nous relie à l’ordinateur, ce qui fait deux raisons pour nous de l’oublier. “Le Clavier” insuffle un peu de résistance dans l’utilisation du clavier pour le rappeler à notre conscience et à nos sens.
“LE CLAVIER” est une commission 2005 de New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc., (aka Ether-Ore) pour son site, et rendu possible grace à une bourse de la Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Il a été réalisé avec le soutien du Consulat Général de France à Québec et de l’Office Franco-Québécois pour la Jeunesse lors d’une résidence à LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE.
We often forget to see the objects that surround us. The keyboard is both an object and an interface that links us to the computer, which gives us two reasons to forget it. It has been ubiquitous so long that nobody takes any notice of it anymore except when the keys start sticking. This project “Keyboard” injects a bit of resistance in the keyboard to refresh our consciousness of it.
“KEYBOARD” is a 2005 commission of New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc.,(aka Ether-Ore) for its Turbulence web site. It was made possible with funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. It was made with the help of le Consulat Général de France à Québec and l’Office Franco-Québécois pour la Jeunesse during a residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE.

2005 - What Are You ?
What Are You? mélange entre eux les modes, les styles de vie et leurs codes de représentation pour générer à l’infini des attitudes et comportements sociaux. Chaque clic lance aléatoirement une nouvelle association.
What Are You?, grâce à sa base de données de plus de 500 tendances passées, présentes et à venir, génère instantanément 250.000 combinaisons. Il est donc en mesure de produire les tendances des 125.000 prochaines années (soit jusqu’en 127005).
What Are You? shuffles representations of lifestyles and social codes to generate an endless number of trends, attitudes and social behaviors. Each click launches a new association of images and sounds describing the trend.
In spite of huge investments, designers, marketing experts and trend hunters produce only two new trends a year. What Are You?, thanks to its database of more than 500 past, present and future trends, generates instantly 250.000 combinations, by randomely associating keywords. It is therefore in the position to produce the trends for the next 125,000 years (i.e. until 127005).
